High Performance Research Equipment

The donations given to the Fondation Armand-Frappier also help to buy leading edge scientific equipment for the researchers at INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier Centre. More than $2 million has been disbursed so far for equipment purchases.

Recent Investments:

2010 The Foundation contributed $210,000 towards the purchase of a confocal microscope and a Multiparametric Flow Cytometer. These instruments are essential for advanced research in most of the fields in which INRS – Institut Armand-Frappier is active.
2008 A fluorescence microscope with a digital camera was acquired, thanks to a donation from the Molson Foundation. It allows the operation of a level 3 containment installation of the RTB coupled to a computerized system for image processing and transmission for the benefit of the INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier scientific community.
2005 The realization of an IT facilities project provides student researchers at INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier with the up-to-date computer and telecommunications resources that are essential for their work. This project was associated with a donation from Bell Canada.
2003-2006 Contribution to the genomics and proteomics unit of the National Centre for Experimental Biology (NCEB) for the development of vaccines and medications.
2004 Contribution to the purchase of a BIAcore ® device. BIAcore® 2000 is a device for analyzing molecular interactions that allows real-time measurement of the chemical bonds between two or more molecules.
2000 Contribution to the purchase of a LightCycler real-time PCR system for the molecular and cellular biology laboratory.
