The Foundation

The Armand-Frappier Foundation is a non profit contributing actively to the advancement and excellence of scientific research in the field of health, and in particular in support of research conducted at INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier Center. Every year, the Foundation awards scholarships to postgraduate students and to research chairs.

In 1978, the Armand-Frappier Foundation was created in order to contribute to the advancement of scientific research in the field of health at the INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier Centre. Since its inception, the Foundation has given well over 13 million dollars as scholarships, research chairs, and contributions to the acquisition of scientific equipment and special projects at the INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier Center. In doing so, the Foundation has contributed to the continuation of Doctor Armand Frappier's works in contributing to the progress of health in Canada and the world over. Doctor Frappier was inducted to the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame in 2012.

The Foundation has supported the continuation of the work of Dr. Armand Frappier, founder of the Institut de microbiologie et d'hygiène de Montréal (IMHM), which was created in 1938. The institute took on the name of its founder in 1975, after its affiliation to the Université du Québec in 1972.
